I introduced my husband to two things from my childhood: s’mores (I have an Air Fryer version on the blog) and pigs in a blanket. He’d never had them before, so I had to remedy that. While homemade dough is lovely, there’s something undeniably nostalgic about wrapping hot dogs in canned crescent roll dough. That makes this recipe wonderfully simple—just hot dogs and crescent rolls.

Ingredients

- Hot Dogs: Use the style your family prefers—regular, all-beef, chicken, or plant-based options all work well.
- Crescent Roll Dough: Canned crescent dough keeps this recipe quick and easy because it’s already portioned into triangles that are perfect for wrapping. If you prefer homemade dough, roll it thin and cut into small portions for wrapping.
How To Make Pigs in a Blanket in the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 350°F for about 3 minutes, or follow your manufacturer’s instructions.
Open the can of crescent roll dough and gently unroll it onto a clean counter or a piece of parchment paper. Separate the triangles and space them out.
Place a hot dog on a triangle of dough and wrap the dough around the hot dog, leaving each end exposed. Repeat until all hot dogs are wrapped. Keep finished rolls chilled in the fridge while you work in batches.

Using tongs, transfer the wrapped hot dogs to the air fryer basket. Most compact air fryers fit 3–4 comfortably; larger oven-style models may fit more.
Air fry at 350°F for 5–8 minutes, or until the dough is golden and puffy. My air fryer runs hot and finished at about 5 minutes; check yours and adjust the time as needed.
Remove cooked pigs in a blanket with tongs, place on a plate, and repeat with the remaining wrapped hot dogs.

Substitutions
Crescent Dough: If you prefer homemade dough, roll it thin and cut into portions that wrap easily around a hot dog. Homemade dough gives a different texture and flavor but requires more time.
Hot Dogs: Any style will do—beef, chicken, turkey, vegetarian, or vegan hot dogs all work.
Variations
Bagel Dog: Brush the baked rolls with melted butter and sprinkle everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds on top. You can add the seasoning after baking or 1–2 minutes before the end of cooking.
Cheesy Pigs in a Blanket: Tuck half a string cheese alongside the hot dog before wrapping. Make sure the dough seals around the cheese to prevent leaks during cooking.
