Prosciutto-Wrapped Asparagus Puff Pastry Appetizers

asparagus prosciutto puff pastry appetizers

When it comes to appetizers, I prefer something simple and fast. Whether you’re entertaining a crowd or preparing a holiday meal, the main course (and dessert) usually demand most of your attention. Appetizers should be quick to assemble, require few ingredients, and please a variety of tastes. These five-ingredient asparagus, prosciutto, and puff pastry bites are exactly that: minimal prep, a short bake time, and a delicious result everyone will enjoy.

Ingredients you need:

  • Asparagus
  • Prosciutto
  • Puff pastry
  • Swiss cheese
  • Egg (optional, for a shiny golden top)

To assemble, trim the woody ends from the asparagus and cut the puff pastry into squares. Bundle 4–5 asparagus spears, wrap them in a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of prosciutto, then enclose the bundle in a puff pastry square. Place each wrapped bundle on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brushing the tops with a beaten egg before baking creates a glossy, golden finish, but you can skip that step if you prefer.

These asparagus and prosciutto puff pastry appetizers are perfect for Mother’s Day, Easter, brunches, or any gathering where you want an elegant-tasting starter with minimal effort. Puff pastry and prosciutto always make a dish feel a bit more special—serve them alongside a grilled steak, a light salad, or as part of a larger appetizer spread.
